The power of affirmations

An affirmation is a "yes", a nod in agreement that a statement is true. They can build up or destroy people based on if those statements are positive or negative. When we hear something over and over again then we affirm and internalize them- how often are they positive?

Positive affirmations are words that we speak to ourselves with the intent of promoting change and self-love while overwriting negative thoughts and feelings. The goal of positive affirmations is to encourage optimistic thoughts to reduce the impact of negativity and the time we spend focusing on it. With continued practice, this can lead to behavioral and attitude changes that boost our confidence and our outlook on life.

It's these changes that make positive affirmations a tool that can contribute to managing stress. When faced with stressful situations (and let's face it, that's about 99.93% of the time), positive affirmations give us the ability to acknowledge the situation without remaining stuck in it... when it's done with true purpose.

Repeating "I'm going to win the lottery" a hundred times a day is not going to pull us out of debt because we have no control over such odds. But repeating "I am smart, talented and possess all the tools that I need to make enough money to be financially free" can help us to to recognize those tools within us and use them to change our situations.

Keep in mind that affirmations are personal. They should reflect our core personal values and be rooted in our sense of identity to have a real impact on our self-esteem.

If you have never tried it then there is no time like the present! Change your mindset, change your life!
